1. About these terms
These terms are an agreement between you and Eleonora Konovalova, who builds and runs BClear Lab (“we”, “us”). They apply to the closed beta of the app at app.bclearlab.com (the “app”). By signing in and using the app, you accept these terms and our Privacy Policy. If you don’t agree with them, please don’t use the app.
2. What the app is
BClear Lab is a tool for practising British English pronunciation on your own. It reads the movement of your lips through the camera and shows you what to change. It is not a course or a qualification, it doesn’t certify your level of English, and it doesn’t replace a speech therapist or medical advice.
The beta is free. There are no paid features in it.
3. How long the beta runs
The closed beta runs until December 31, 2026. We may end it earlier or extend it; if we do, we will update this page and email you at the address we sent your password to. When the beta ends, your password stops working. The data stored in your browser stays there until you delete it.
4. Access
- You sign in with a password that we send you personally. Please don’t share it or post it anywhere.
- We may change the password at any time, for example if it becomes public. We will send the new one to beta participants.
- The app is for people aged 18 and over.
5. It’s a test version
- The app is still being built and is provided as it is. Features may change, appear or disappear without notice, and there may be bugs and interruptions.
- Hints and scores are generated automatically and are tuned on a limited set of recordings for now. They can be wrong and are not an assessment of your English.
- You need a device with a front camera and an up-to-date browser. Face tracking runs on your device: the first time you sign in, the browser downloads a model of about 40 MB, and your battery drains faster than usual during practice.
- The camera turns on only after you press “Turn on camera” and allow access in your browser. The microphone is not used in the beta.
6. Your data
Camera video is processed only on your device and is never sent to us. Your calibration and progress are stored in your browser; we can’t see them or restore them. You can delete them in the app or by clearing the site data for app.bclearlab.com in your browser settings. Everything else is described in our Privacy Policy.
7. Please don’t
- try to get around the app’s protection, guess passwords or get access to the server;
- copy, modify or decompile the app, or extract its code or models, except where the law expressly allows it;
- overload the app, including with automated requests;
- use the app commercially, including reselling or passing on access to it.
8. Ownership
The app, its exercises, texts and design belong to us. For the duration of the beta we give you a free, personal, non-exclusive permission to use the app for practising your own pronunciation. The app includes open-source components, such as MediaPipe by Google (Apache 2.0 licence); they belong to their owners.
9. Feedback
We’d love to hear what works and what doesn’t: write to info@bclearlab.ru. We may use your ideas and comments to improve the app at no cost. We will only quote your feedback with your name if you separately agree to it.
10. Liability
The beta is free and still in testing, so we can’t promise that it will work without errors or interruptions or that it will suit your particular goals. To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for losses caused by using the app or by not being able to use it. You are responsible for keeping your password safe.
11. Changes and ending
We may update these terms by publishing a new version on this page. We will email you in advance about significant changes. If you keep using the app after a new version takes effect, you accept it; if you don’t agree, please stop using the app.
You can stop using the app at any time and clear its data in your browser. We may end your access if you break these terms.
